Phnom Penh: On the morning of October 17, 2026, Mr. Chek Kearun, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism Vocational Training and high representative of Dr. Choub Ratana, Director of the Department, alongside Dr. Chea Sopheap, Rector of the Human Resources University (HRU), co-presided over a consultative briefing on the "Field Practicum and Research Report Guidelines" for trainees of the 7th Generation National Tour Guide and 21st Generation Phnom Penh and Surrounding Regional Tour Guide Training Programs. The event brought together approximately 100 participants, including technical officials from the Ministry of Tourism, university leadership, tour guide trainees, and media representatives.
During the session, technical officials delivered comprehensive orientation presentations detailing the strategic objectives, operational procedures, and standardized academic research methodologies required for the practicum. The session also featured the randomized selection of academic advisors and an engaging, interactive Q&A discussion. This mandatory practicum phase commences following the successful completion of theoretical coursework. Trainees will undergo a two-month intensive field internship and capstone report preparation, culminating in an oral defense before an official examination committee—a prerequisite for credentialing and acquiring a professional tour guide license.
Concluding the briefing, representatives from the Ministry of Tourism and university leadership urged all trainees to foster proactive teamwork and maintain consistent academic consultations with their designated advisors. They emphasized conducting rigorous, ethical field research strictly aligned with established institutional standards to contribute meaningfully to national socio-economic growth and the broader tourism sector.
