Siem Reap Province: On Days 3 and 4 of the training course for National Master Assessors in Hotel Services, under the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals (ASEAN MRA-TP), participants engaged in practical exercises on the preparation and presentation of competency assessment processes. Each participant selected a Unit of Competency (UoC) in accordance with the ASEAN competency-based training framework and conducted a 20-minute assessment simulation. This practical activity focused on applying assessment principles in real-world contexts, with the aim of strengthening participants’ competencies, technical knowledge, and understanding of their roles and responsibilities as National Master Assessors.
As part of the assessment process, participants prepared key assessment documents, including:
1. Assessment Plan– specifying the objectives, scope, methods, duration, venue, resources, and procedures of the assessment.
2. Assessment Matrix – establishing linkages among competency elements, assessment criteria, required evidence, and assessment methods to ensure comprehensive coverage of the competencies being assessed.
3. Assessment Tools – comprising observation checklists, oral and written questions, practical tasks, and other supporting documents used to measure and verify candidates’ competencies.
4. Competency Recording Sheet – used to document evidence, assessment outcomes, and final assessment decisions based on competency standards and principles of professional assessment practice.
It is also worth noting that, through the practical sessions scheduled for 18–19 August 2026, participants will gain in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in developing assessment plans, establishing assessment criteria, applying assessment tools in accordance with prescribed standards, and recording assessment results in a transparent and professional manner. These competencies are essential to ensuring the quality, consistency, credibility, and professional standards of tourism skills assessment, thereby contributing to a robust assessment system that supports the mutual recognition of tourism professionals across ASEAN Member States.
