Kampong Thom Province: On the morning of 27 August 2026, with the high-level authorization of H.E. Hout Hak, Minister of Tourism, H.E. Ms. Vann Sereyroth, Under Secretary of State, and H.E. Han Kosal, Deputy Governor of Kampong Thom Provincial Administration, representing H.E. Noun Pharat, Governor of Kampong Thom Provincial Administration, presided over the opening ceremony of the training course on “Luxury Service, Food and Beverage Service Skills, and National and International Protocols” at the Polytechnic Institute of Kampong Thom Province.
The ceremony was attended by the Director of the Department of Vocational Tourism Training, the Director of the Kampong Thom Provincial Department of Tourism, the Director of the Polytechnic Institute of Kampong Thom, representatives of relevant provincial departments and institutions, representatives of city and district administrations, tourism business owners and operators, trainers, trainees, and technical officials, with approximately 130 participants in attendance at the Polytechnic Institute of Kampong Thom.
In her remarks at the opening ceremony, H.E. the Under Secretary of State highlighted that the Ministry of Tourism has consistently prioritized human resource development in the tourism sector, particularly in Kampong Thom Province. Through the HoKa Project Management Committee, in collaboration with the Cambodia Association of Travel Agents (CATA) and with co-financing support from the Skills Development Fund (SDF), a number of tourism professionals in Kampong Thom Province have been trained in the following areas:
1. Food and Beverage Service Skills: 40 trainees, including 27 women;
2. Front Office Skills: 21 trainees, including 16 women;
3. Professional Cookery Skills: 21 trainees, including 11 women;
4. Housekeeping Skills – Batch 2: 22 trainees, including 17 women;
5. Food and Beverage Service and Cookery Skills for the Sambor Prei Kuk Tourism Community: 26 trainees, including 23 women;
6. Housekeeping Skills for the Sambor Prei Kuk Tourism Community: 31 trainees, including 20 women; and
7. Cambodia Hospitality Trainers (HoKa): 27 trainees, including 17 women.
The current training course is being conducted over two days, from 27 to 28 August 2026, with a total of 80 trainees, including 26 women, representing tourism businesses and establishments in Kampong Thom Province. The training is delivered by three instructors covering the following subjects:
1. Luxury Service and Food and Beverage Service Skills, delivered by Mr. Saing Chanthu, Deputy Head of the Department of Vocational Tourism Training, and Mr. Chhean Sophal, Founder of the Cambodia Cocktail School (CCS); and
2. National and International Protocols, delivered by H.E. Professor In Sophal.
It should be emphasized that this training course will contribute significantly to strengthening the capacity and enhancing the quality of human resources in the tourism sector in Kampong Thom Province, particularly among personnel working in tourism businesses and establishments. The initiative aims to improve service quality in accordance with the expectations and requirements of both domestic and international visitors, while contributing to the enhancement of service standards and the overall attractiveness of Kampong Thom Province as a destination with strong tourism potential.
