Siem Reap Province: During Days 6 and 7 of the National Assessors Training Course on Hotel Services, conducted under the framework of the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals (ASEAN MRA-TP), the trainees undertook practical competency assessment exercises. They prepared and delivered presentations on the Competency Assessment Process, selecting one Unit of Competency (UoC) from the ASEAN Toolbox and conducting an assessment within a 30-minute timeframe.
As part of this process, the trainees prepared and utilized the key assessment documents, including:
1. Assessment Plan
2. Assessment Matrix
3. Assessment Tools
4. Assessment Decision Grid
5. Competency Recording Sheet
Through hands-on practice and presentations, the trainees strengthened their capacity to develop assessment plans, establish appropriate Assessment Criteria, apply assessment tools in accordance with relevant standards, collect Evidence of Competence, and record assessment outcomes in a manner that ensures transparency, fairness, consistency, and a high level of professionalism. The trainees also received constructive feedback and recommendations from the trainers to further improve and strengthen the quality, effectiveness, and reliability of the assessment process.
As a result, all trainees demonstrated their ability to assess skills and knowledge in accordance with ASEAN standards and achieved positive overall outcomes. Of the 35 trainees, 31 were assessed as Outstanding, 3 were assessed as Competent, and 1 trainee participated in the training course.
Upon successful completion of the training course, the trainees will be able to utilize the ASEAN Toolbox within their respective institutions for internal training and capacity-building purposes, thereby contributing to the continued enhancement of professional competencies and the quality of tourism and hospitality services in line with ASEAN standards.
