Phnom Penh: Congratulations to KOFI Academy, which has officially changed its name to KOFI Vocational School and has received the continued official recognition and authorization from H.E. Hout Hak, Minister of Tourism, to operate as a Tourism Professional Training School in Phnom Penh, following an inspection and assessment conducted by the technical team of the Department of Tourism Professional Training to evaluate the school’s physical and non-physical infrastructure.
The inspection focused on verifying the required documentation for the proposed change of name from an academy to a school, as well as assessing training equipment and materials, classrooms, training documentation, practical training facilities, the availability and qualifications of trainers, and other essential requirements. These measures are intended to ensure the quality of training provision and its alignment with the current needs and requirements of the tourism sector.
It should be noted that KOFI Vocational School has conducted eight training cohorts, providing training in Basic Barista Skills and Intermediate Barista Skills, with a total of 521 trainees, including 288 women. During 2025–2026, the school trained 19 participants, including 13 women, in Basic Barista Skills, and 8 participants, including 3 women, in Intermediate Barista Skills. Looking ahead to 2027, the school plans to introduce additional training courses in mixology and bartending skills.
The official recognition represents an important milestone reflecting KOFI Vocational School’s commitment to strengthening the quality and effectiveness of vocational skills training. It also demonstrates the school’s contribution to the Ministry of Tourism’s efforts to develop a competent, professional, and qualified human resource base to support employment and career development in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
In addition, the school will continue to strengthen its infrastructure, training equipment, and learning resources; enhance the professional capacity of its trainers; and regularly update its curricula to better respond to the evolving needs of the tourism industry. Through these efforts, the school aims to provide young people and individuals seeking career opportunities in the coffee and hospitality industries with high-quality, industry-relevant skills aligned with professional standards.
