Siem Reap Province: From 11 to 16 September 2026, with the kind authorization of H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, and under the further guidance of Dr. Chuob Ratana, Director of the
Tourism Professional Training Department and Chair of the Secretariat of the HoKa Project Management Committee, Mr. Chheak Kearoun, Deputy Director of the Department, successfully completed the Workplace-Based Professional Internship Programme in Housekeeping at Sarai Resort & Spa, Siem Reap Province.
Through this internship, Mr. Cheak Kearun gained in-depth practical knowledge and experience in various aspects of housekeeping operations and management, including the organizational structure and management of the housekeeping department; guest-room preparation and cleaning; public-area maintenance; equipment and inventory management; linen and uniform management; and the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). He also strengthened his understanding and practical application of hygiene, safety, and service-quality principles within housekeeping operations, as well as work planning and task allocation, time management, room and service quality inspection, communication and teamwork, problem-solving in daily operations, and an understanding of guests’ needs and expectations.
Upon completion of the programme, Mr. Chheak Kearoun will be able to apply the knowledge, practical experience, and professional skills acquired through workplace-based learning to further strengthen the training and capacity development of tourism professionals and human resources, ensuring greater alignment with the practical needs of the hospitality sector and the labour market.
This internship also represents an important component of promoting experiential learning through practical exposure at tourism businesses and strengthening cooperation between public institutions and private-sector enterprises in the tourism industry. It contributes to the development of tourism human resources equipped with stronger knowledge, professional skills, and practical competencies, thereby supporting the continued improvement of human-resource quality in the tourism and hospitality sector.
