Siem Reap Province: From 11 to 16 September 2026, with the high-level authorization of H.E. HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism, and under the additional guidance of Dr. Chuob Ratana, Director of the Tourism Professional Training Department and Chair of the Secretariat of the HoKa Project Management Committee, Mr Srey Samnith, Head of Office of the Tourism Professional Training Department, successfully completed the On-the-Job Professional Internship Programme in Culinary Arts at LYNNAYA Urban River Resort & Spa in Siem Reap Province.
During the internship, He gained practical knowledge and hands-on experience in various aspects of professional kitchen operations, including the organizational structure and workflow of the kitchen; workplace organization and kitchen equipment management; the preparation and inspection of raw materials; ingredient preparation; the application of culinary techniques; and food preparation and presentation. He also practiced the principles of hygiene and food safety, kitchen sanitation standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), inventory management, and the proper storage of raw materials under appropriate conditions. In addition, she gained experience in waste management, teamwork, and coordination between the culinary department and other relevant departments, with the aim of ensuring efficiency, quality, and food safety in the provision of food services to guests.
Upon completion of the programme, the knowledge and practical experience acquired through workplace-based learning will contribute to the effective application of professional knowledge in he duties, particularly in strengthening and advancing culinary skills training. This experience will help bridge theoretical knowledge with practical workplace application in tourism and hospitality businesses, while also enabling the sharing of new knowledge, practical experience, and professional insights with officials, trainees, and tourism professionals.
This professional internship represents an important contribution to strengthening the capacity of officials and developing Cambodia’s tourism human resources through exposure to real-world working environments and the application of industry standards. It further contributes to ensuring that tourism and hospitality professionals are better equipped to respond effectively to the current and future needs of Cambodia’s tourism and hospitality sector.
