On the occasion of HoKa Skills Day 2026, held under the overarching theme “Skills for a Shared Future: Empowering Tourism Professionals through Lifelong Learning,” H.E. HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the National Committee for Tourism Professionals (NCTP), together with Mr. Reto Grueninger, Director of Cooperation of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), presided over the certificate awarding ceremony for trainees of the eighth cohort of the Bakery Training Programme.
The training programme commenced on 13 February 2026, with a total of 40 trainees enrolled, comprising 20 participants in the morning session and 20 in the afternoon session. The curriculum consisted of 72 hours of theoretical instruction and practical training, covering ten types of bakery products and preparation techniques. The programme was carefully structured to ensure a balanced integration of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, with one week dedicated to theoretical learning, followed by practical training in the subsequent week. This approach aimed to equip trainees with the competencies and practical skills required to meet the demands of the labour market. Upon successful completion of the programme, trainees were awarded official professional competency certificates issued by the Ministry of Tourism.
It is worth noting that, to date, the Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with the Meisan Culinary Excellence Centre, has successfully conducted seven previous cohorts of face-to-face training, benefiting a total of 198 trainees. In addition, the partnership has expanded access to professional skills development through online training, reaching a further 2,710 participants. These achievements demonstrate the continued commitment to broadening access to vocational skills training and leveraging digital technology to enable more people to acquire relevant knowledge and professional competencies, thereby strengthening their capacities and enhancing their employment opportunities.
