Phnom Penh: On the morning of February 22, 2026, at the Oakwood Premier Phnom Penh, Mr. Chuob Ratana, Director of the Tourism Professional Training Department, accompanied by specialized department officials, engaged in a strategic consultative meeting with Mr. Johnny Mo, representative of the CICC-Youth Development Department. The primary objective was to deliberate on the feasibility and planning of the "International Championships Latte Art (ICLA)," marking the first sanctioned international event of its kind in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
The championship is scheduled to take place from March 28–29, 2026, at Oakwood Premier Phnom Penh and One Park. Key thematic areas of the discussion regarding the organization of this event include:
1. Elevation of Tourism Professional Standards: This championship serves as a critical benchmark for evaluating and enhancing service quality within the Food and Beverage (F&B) sector. By aligning local practices with international standards, the event aims to meet the escalating expectations of both domestic and international tourists.
2. Integration of the Coffee Industry Value Chain: The initiative seeks to catalyze development across the entire industry spectrum—from domestic production and processing to premium service delivery ("From Bean to Cup"). This involves technical synergy and potential investment from Chinese partners.
3. Platform for Talent Exchange and Philanthropy: The event provides a meritocratic forum for Cambodian baristas to showcase their technical proficiency on an international stage. Furthermore, it incorporates knowledge-sharing sessions by renowned experts and philanthropic activities, reflecting a commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR).
4. Strengthening Cambodia-China Bilateral Relations: By utilizing coffee culture as a medium for diplomacy, the event aims to fortify the long-standing friendship, economic cooperation, and cultural exchange between the youth and industry professionals of both nations.
Ultimately, this event will serve as a pivotal platform for stimulating tourism investment and fostering human resource development in the specialized field of latte art within Cambodia.
