Fostering a Passion for Tourism from High School: Ministry of Tourism Continues the Development of the Grade 12 Tourism Textbook
Ministry of Tourism Headquarters: On the morning of 21 July 2026, H.E. Hun Dany, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Tourism and Chair of the Grade 12 Tourism Textbook Development Committee, presided over the 5th Steering Committee Meeting on the development of the Grade 12 Tourism textbook. The meeting focused on reviewing and discussing the detailed content of all 12 chapters of the textbook.
The meeting was attended by Secretaries of State, Under Secretaries of State, representatives from the Ministry’s General Departments, the National Institute of Tourism, tourism vocational training schools, Deputy Directors General, Directors of Departments, representatives from the Provincial and Municipal Departments of Tourism, and other tourism stakeholders. Approximately 65 participants joined both in person and via Zoom Meeting.
During the meeting, members of the working group delivered presentations on each chapter, engaged in comprehensive discussions, and provided constructive recommendations to further strengthen the textbook. Participants actively reviewed the lesson structure, learning objectives, expected learning outcomes, and practical examples to ensure that the content is accurate, comprehensive, up-to-date, and responsive to the evolving needs of Cambodia’s tourism sector. The meeting also emphasized the importance of maintaining coherence across all chapters, applying standardized technical terminology, and incorporating Cambodian case studies and real-world contexts to enhance students’ analytical thinking and practical application of knowledge.
On this occasion, H.E. Hun Dany expressed her appreciation for the dedication, professionalism, and collaborative efforts of the textbook development team in producing rich and relevant learning materials aligned with the strategic direction of Cambodia’s tourism development. She further encouraged the working group to continue refining all 12 chapters to ensure scientific rigor, alignment with the national curriculum, accessibility for learners, and practical applicability by integrating theoretical concepts with Cambodia’s tourism realities and global tourism trends. These efforts aim to ensure the textbook’s quality, effectiveness, and comprehensiveness while contributing to the development of a skilled tourism workforce and fostering tourism awareness among Cambodian youth.
The working group reaffirmed its commitment to continued close collaboration in reviewing, refining, and finalizing the textbook to the highest quality standards for Grade 12 teaching and learning. The team will also continue collecting feedback and recommendations from relevant stakeholders over the next two weeks to further enhance the textbook before submitting it to H.E. the Minister of Tourism for review and further guidance.
