The meeting was also attended by Mr. Kong Dara, Hospitality Programme Manager of the Cambodia Hospitality Training Programme (HoKa) under the Skills Development Programme, together with approximately 50 representatives from the Provincial Departments of Tourism of the 12 project target provinces.
The meeting was convened to review and assess progress in the implementation of the HoKa training programme, while providing a platform to discuss key challenges, identify appropriate solutions, and establish strategic priorities for 2027–2028. In addition, participants conducted a SWOT analysis, examining the programme’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, to formulate appropriate strategies aimed at strengthening its overall implementation effectiveness.
Furthermore, the meeting provided an opportunity for representatives from all 12 Provincial Departments of Tourism to share their experiences, implementation challenges, and lessons learned from delivering the programme at the local level. These exchanges aimed to strengthen coordination, facilitate information sharing, and enhance collaboration between the national and sub-national levels to ensure more effective programme implementation.
Overall, the meeting served as an important mechanism for strengthening the governance and implementation of the HoKa programme through continuous monitoring, evaluation, and improvement. These efforts are intended to ensure that tourism vocational training is of high quality and responsive to labour market demands and the evolving needs of the private sector. Furthermore, the programme seeks to contribute to the development of a competent, skilled, and professional tourism workforce in Cambodia, in alignment with national and ASEAN standards, thereby enhancing service quality and strengthening the competitiveness of Cambodia’s tourism sector in a sustainable manner.
