Ministry of Tourism Headquarters: On the afternoon of 8 September 2026, Dr. Juab Ratana, Director of the Department of Vocational Tourism Training and Head of the HoKa Project Management Secretariat, chaired a briefing and guidance meeting for five departmental officials who will undertake on-the-job professional placements at standard-compliant hotels and restaurants under the Professional Industry Placement (PIP) Programme.
The professional placements will take place from 10 to 17 September 2026 in Siem Reap Province, providing the participating officials with an opportunity to gain first-hand practical experience and enhance their professional competencies through direct engagement with tourism and hospitality businesses.
The PIP Programme represents an important professional development opportunity for officials and tourism professionals from the HoKa project’s target provinces. Through practical workplace exposure at hotels and restaurants operating according to established standards, participants will gain a deeper understanding of service delivery processes, operational management, technical work practices, and professional standards currently applied within the tourism and hospitality industry.
The programme is designed to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical workplace application, enabling participating officials to integrate their acquired knowledge and experience into vocational tourism skills training activities in their respective target provinces. By learning directly from real-world workplace environments, participants will also be better positioned to identify emerging skills requirements and challenges within the industry, which can subsequently inform the improvement and enhancement of vocational training programmes to ensure greater responsiveness to labour market demands.
On this occasion, the Director of the Department encouraged all five officials to demonstrate a high level of commitment throughout their placements, actively learn from industry professionals and skilled employees, and strictly observe workplace discipline, professional ethics, and the internal regulations of the host businesses. They were also encouraged to systematically document and collect good practices and valuable workplace experiences for subsequent integration into vocational training programmes, thereby ensuring that future training remains closely aligned with practical industry realities.
