Siem Reap Province: On 4 September 2026, Dr. Chuob Ratana, Director of the Department of Tourism Professional Training and Head of the Secretariat of the HoKa Project Management Committee, together with Ms. Neak Rohany, Senior Manager of GBS, and Ms. Tit Sonang, Representative of the Skills Development Programme of Swisscontact Cambodia, presided over the closing ceremony of the Cambodia Hospitality Training (HoKa) Trainer Training Course on Barista Skills in Siem Reap Province.
The ceremony also included the presentation of certificates to a total of 14 trainees, including 8 women, who had successfully completed the training course.
In his remarks, the Director of the Department highly commended and appreciated all 14 trainees for their commitment, active participation, and successful completion of the Barista Skills Training Course. He noted that their achievement reflects their dedication, perseverance, and strong commitment to enhancing their professional competencies in order to respond effectively to labour market demands and contribute to the continued development of the tourism and hospitality sectors.
Dr. Chuob Ratana also expressed his appreciation for the cooperation and support of relevant partners in facilitating and coordinating the training programme, ensuring its smooth implementation and quality outcomes. He encouraged all trainees to continue strengthening their knowledge, skills, and practical experience, and to apply the competencies acquired through the training in their professional work and share their knowledge with others. Such efforts will contribute to improving the quality of tourism and hospitality services in Cambodia.
The training course pursued the following key objectives:
1. Enhancing professional competencies and skills: Strengthening trainees’ knowledge, technical expertise, and practical skills in the art of coffee preparation and barista service, in line with professional standards and labour market requirements.
2. Creating employment opportunities and increasing income: Equipping trainees with the professional skills and competencies required to access employment opportunities in the hospitality sector, while also preparing them to establish and operate their own businesses.
3. Improving the quality of tourism and hospitality services: Contributing to higher standards and greater efficiency in service delivery by developing a skilled and professional workforce capable of effectively responding to the needs and expectations of tourists and customers.
It should be noted that the Barista Skills Training Course forms part of the joint efforts of the Ministry of Tourism and its development partners to strengthen the quality and capacity of human resources in Cambodia’s tourism and hospitality sectors. The initiative is aligned with national and ASEAN standards and aims to respond effectively to labour market demands while supporting the continued growth and development of Cambodia’s tourism industry.
