Phnom Penh, Cambodia: On the afternoon of 9 October 2026, Dr. Choub Ratana, Director of Tourism Professional Training Department and Chair of the Secretariat of the HoKa Project Management Committee, led a delegation of technical officials in a working meeting with Mr. Laurent Rossier, a representative of Global Swiss Learning, Switzerland. The meeting aimed to explore potential areas of cooperation in advancing professional training and strengthening the competencies of tourism professionals, particularly in culinary arts.
During the meeting, Dr. Choub Ratana warmly welcomed Mr. Laurent Rossier and highly appreciated the initiative to establish a partnership with the Ministry of Tourism. He also highlighted the visionary leadership and strong commitment of His Excellency the Minister of Tourism to human resource development in the tourism sector through the implementation of three key training programmes: the Cambodia Hospitality Training Programme (HoKa), the Cambodia Qualifications Framework (CQF)-aligned training programme, and the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals (ASEAN MRA-TP)-aligned training programme.
These programmes serve as important mechanisms for enhancing the quality and professional competencies of tourism personnel, expanding employment opportunities, and strengthening their competitiveness and mobility within the region and internationally.
The discussions focused on exploring the potential application of online training platforms to broaden access to professional knowledge and skills through flexible and effective learning approaches, in line with labour market demands and the ongoing advancement of digital technology.
This potential cooperation is significant in identifying innovative training methodologies, improving the quality of vocational education, and developing human resources in the tourism sector. These efforts are intended to address the evolving needs of tourism and hospitality enterprises while contributing to the continuous improvement of Cambodia’s tourism service quality.
Through strengthened international partnerships and the effective application of digital technology, Cambodia has greater opportunities to expand access to vocational training and develop a competent tourism workforce equipped with professional skills that meet relevant standards and the demands of regional and international labour markets.
