Siem Reap Province, 13 July 2026 – With the esteemed approval of H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, H.E. Vann Sereyrath, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Tourism, presided over the opening ceremony of the National Master Trainer and National Assessor Training Programme for Hotel Services under the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals (ASEAN MRA-TP) at Memoire Resort and Spa, Siem Reap Province.
The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Ngov Sengkak, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap Province; H.E. Ky Sokkim, Executive Director of the Skills Development Fund (SDF); officials of the Ministry of Tourism; ASEAN and National Master Trainers and Assessors; representatives from development organizations, tourism associations, tourism vocational training institutions; and trainees, with approximately 150 participants in attendance.
In her opening remarks, H.E. Vann Sereyrath emphasized that, under the visionary leadership of H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, the Ministry of Tourism continues to place strong emphasis on developing tourism human capital and strengthening the competencies of tourism professionals. These efforts are implemented through close collaboration with national and sub-national administrations, public and private sector partners, development organizations, professional associations, and other relevant stakeholders. The active participation of the Siem Reap Provincial Administration, the Skills Development Fund (SDF), partner organizations, and tourism stakeholders in this programme reflects the strong multi-sectoral commitment to advancing tourism workforce development in Cambodia.
For Siem Reap Province, the Ministry of Tourism will conduct two concurrent ASEAN MRA-TP training programmes on National Master Trainers and National Assessors for Hotel Services. The first programme will be held from 13–19 July 2026, followed by the second programme from 17–23 August 2026, building upon the successful completion of two similar training programmes recently organized in Phnom Penh.
A total of 70 participants have been selected for these programmes, including 35 National Master Trainer trainees and 35 National Assessor trainees. Participants are experienced tourism professionals currently serving as trainers within tourism organizations, associations, and vocational training institutions. They possess extensive professional experience, together with strong proficiency in English language communication and computer literacy.
The training programmes are conducted at two dedicated venues, with the National Master Trainer Programme taking place at Pop-Up Café and the National Assessor Programme hosted at SPOON Café Restaurant. The programmes are fully funded by the Skills Development Fund (SDF), enabling participants to attend free of charge. Refreshments and lunch are also provided throughout the training for both trainers and participants.
The Ministry of Tourism remains committed to strengthening Cambodia's tourism workforce through internationally recognized competency standards, thereby enhancing service excellence, professional mobility, and the competitiveness of Cambodia's tourism industry within the ASEAN region.
