Beijing, People’s Republic of China: With the high-level approval of H.E. HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism, from 2 to 4 November 2026, Dr. CHUOB Ratana, Director of Professional Training department and Head of the Secretariat of the National Committee for Tourism Professionals (NCTP), participated in a discussion on “Cambodia–China International Industry Cooperation.” The discussions focused on Smart Construction Standards, the Center for Excellence, and the International Tourism Institute, with the aim of exploring potential opportunities and strengthening cooperation in professional skills development and human resource training in the tourism sector.

On this occasion, Dr. Chuob Ratana shared Cambodia’s perspectives and experiences concerning the demand for and supply of skilled labour in the tourism industry. He also highlighted the progress made in developing national training standards packages, integrating professional competency standards in alignment with ASEAN standards, and supporting tourism vocational training institutions in implementing training programmes in accordance with relevant frameworks and ASEAN standards.

Dr. Chuob Ratana further underscored the importance of enhancing the quality and competitiveness of professional tourism training to respond effectively to the evolving tourism industry, regional and international labour market demands, as well as technological advancements and emerging trends in the hospitality sector.

In particular, he proposed seeking technical and professional support from the Chinese side to develop a Higher Diploma-level training standards package in Hotel Services. This initiative is expected to serve as an important foundation for advancing professional competencies, establishing structured career development pathways, and cultivating highly skilled human resources in line with labour market requirements and international standards.

Through this cooperation, the Ministry of Tourism expects to contribute to strengthening Cambodia’s professional tourism training system by enhancing its quality, standardisation, and competitiveness. It will also help improve the capacity of the skilled workforce, thereby supporting the sustainable development of Cambodia’s tourism sector and further elevating the country’s tourism profile and reputation at both regional and international levels.
