Takeo Province: On February 19, 2026, H.E. Vann Sereyroth, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Tourism and High Representative of H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, conducted an official visit to St. Francois Private General and Technical High School. The delegation included Mr. Chuob Ratana, Director of Tourism Professional Training Department; Mr. Kong Dara, Head of the Cambodia Hospitality Training Management for the Skills Development Programme (SDP) and representative of Swisscontact; and Mr. Leng Kimloeun, representative of Novotel Phnom Penh. The primary objective of this mission was to advocate for the broader implementation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and to solidify strategic cooperation between the institution, the Ministry of Tourism, and various stakeholders to ensure that vocational curricula remain rigorously aligned with the evolving labor market demands of the tourism industry.
St. Francois Private General and Technical High School, located along National Road 3 in Angk Korkir Village, Tram Kak District, Takeo Province, was established in 2015 under the visionary leadership of Bishop Olivier Schmitthaeusler. The institution plays a pivotal role in human resource development by providing technical education to underprivileged and vulnerable youth from Takeo and neighboring provinces. Through comprehensive scholarships—covering tuition, boarding, and job placement services—the school invests approximately $5,400 per student over a three-year duration.
From 2015 to 2025, the school has successfully trained 1,069 students in technical programs equivalent to the National High School Diploma (Bac.II). These programs include Agronomy (since 2015) and Tourism (since 2018). To bridge the gap between theoretical instruction and professional practice, the school features an onsite "Model Hotel" and maintains active partnerships with natural resorts in Kampot and Kep, facilitating weekly practical rotations for tourism students.
Concluding the visit, H.E. the Undersecretary of State, on behalf of the Ministry of Tourism, extended her high commendation to Bishop Olivier for his dedication to developing both physical and intellectual infrastructure. She emphasized that the school's pedagogical frameworks and practical facilities exemplify a clear strategic mission and core values in technical education, significantly contributing to the socio-economic advancement of the Cambodian youth.
