Siem Reap Province: On the morning of February 24, 2025, under the high authorization of H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, H.E. Pak Sokhom, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Tourism and Chairman of the HoKa Steering Committee, presided over the opening ceremony of the HoKa Training of Trainers (TOT) program specializing in Culinary Arts. The ceremony was co-attended by Mr. Ngov Seng Kak, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap Province, and Mr. Kong Dara, Training Program Manager at Swisscontact. Held at Sophoas Cooking Class in Chreav Commune, Siem Reap, the event welcomed 40 participants, including representatives from TVET institutions, tourism industry associations, the hospitality sector, and the Cambodia Chefs Association.
The primary objective of this training program is to enhance the technical proficiency and pedagogical methodologies of culinary professionals within the project’s target provinces. This initiative ensures that trainers are well-equipped to transfer specialized knowledge to local practitioners effectively, thereby fostering the development of Cambodia's gastronomy sector. The curriculum spans nine days, comprising five days of theoretical instruction via video conferencing and four days of intensive practical sessions. The practical component focuses on regional signature dishes, authentic local cuisines, and specialized sauce preparation techniques.
This initial session (Phase 1) hosts 17 trainees from eight target provinces, including Kratie, Stung Treng, Preah Vihear, Mondulkiri, Ratanakiri, Banteay Meanchey, Oddar Meanchey, and Kompong Chhnang. The cohort consists of HoKa trainers representing both Provincial Departments of Tourism and the private sector.
