Siem Reap Province: On the morning of 19 October 2026, with the high-level authorization of H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, H.E. Chhun Makara, Director General of Tourism Industry Management, accompanied by Dr, Director of the Department of Tourism Professional Training, and technical officials from the Department, conducted an inspection of the physical and non-physical infrastructure of Bayon Education and Development Organization (Bayon E&D) in preparation for the assessment and recognition process for its accreditation as a tourism vocational training institution. The visit also aimed to strengthen cooperation in tourism vocational skills training in Siem Reap Province.
The inspection aimed to assess the existing infrastructure, training equipment and facilities, learning environment, and institutional capacity to deliver high-quality tourism vocational training that responds to the actual needs of the labour market. Furthermore, the visit provided an opportunity for relevant stakeholders to discuss and explore avenues for strengthening cooperation in curriculum development, trainer capacity building, and expanding access to vocational skills training for young people and local communities.
It is worth noting that the institution’s mission is to promote lifelong learning, develop competent and skilled professionals, and nurture socially responsible citizens. This mission is pursued through the provision of comprehensive education, the enhancement of vocational competencies, the promotion of well-being, and the advancement of social development.
The institution’s core training programmes include:
1. Pastry and Bakery: Training in pastry and bakery techniques in accordance with French and international technical standards.
2. Coffee Shop and Barista Skills: Professional training in coffee preparation and beverage presentation, with a total training duration of 810 hours.
3. Fruit and Vegetable Processing: Training in the processing and value addition of fruits and vegetables.
4. Green Agroecology: Training in sustainable agricultural practices and environmentally friendly farming approaches.
Over the past several years, the institution has trained 214 young women from economically disadvantaged families in pastry-making and bakery skills, equipping them with practical vocational competencies and opportunities to improve their livelihoods and future employment prospects.
