Kampong Thom Province: On 9 August 2026, Dr. Chuob Ratana, Deputy Head of the Royal Government Working Group for Chong Doung Commune, Baray District, accompanied by members of the working group, conducted a site inspection and held a working discussion with representatives of Siloam Mission& Development Cambodia Organization to review the construction progress of the Seilaom Vocational and Life Skills Training Institute, currently under construction in Chong Doung Village, Chong Doung Commune, Baray District, Kampong Thom Province.
During the visit, Dr. Juab Ratana reviewed the progress of the construction of the academic facilities and discussed the arrangements for the training premises, equipment, and other essential conditions to ensure that the forthcoming training center will be able to deliver quality training programs aligned with labor market demands and the continued development of Cambodia’s tourism sector.
The working group also provided recommendations on the development of training curricula, trainee selection procedures, instructor training, and the necessary procedures for registering the institution as a vocational tourism training school.
The vocational training institute will prioritize providing local youth in Baray District, as well as youth from surrounding districts, with access to vocational training in key tourism-related occupations, including culinary arts, food and beverage services, and housekeeping, along with a number of other technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programs.
The establishment of this training facility represents an important opportunity for local communities and disadvantaged youth to acquire knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies. It is expected to contribute to improving their access to employment opportunities, increasing household incomes, and enhancing the livelihoods and well-being of local families.
The initiative also reflects a broader commitment to strengthening human resource development through quality vocational education and skills training, particularly for young people in rural areas, while contributing to the development of a skilled workforce that can respond effectively to the evolving needs of the tourism and labor markets.
