Kampong Thom Province: On the afternoon of 25 August 2026, Dr. Juab Ratana, Director of the Department of Tourism Vocational Skills Training and Head of the Secretariat of the National Project Management Committee (NPMC), led a team of technical officials in a working discussion with the Deputy Director of Kampong Chheuteal Polytechnic Institute and the institute’s working team. The meeting focused on strengthening support for tourism skills training at Kampong Chheuteal General and Technical High School, located in Prasat Sambour District, Kampong Thom Province.
The discussion focused primarily on supporting the review, development, and improvement of tourism skills curricula to ensure their relevance to the actual needs of the tourism sector. Key areas included strengthening the capacity and professional qualifications of teachers, developing training content with a strong emphasis on practical application, and enhancing cooperation with tourism industry associations and tourism operators to create opportunities for workplace-based training and internships for students.
In addition, the discussion emphasized the development of mechanisms to establish stronger linkages among educational institutions, the private sector, and the labour market. These efforts aim to ensure that students undertaking tourism skills training acquire the knowledge, practical skills, and competencies required to meet professional standards and effectively respond to the workforce needs of tourism enterprises.
This support also forms part of broader efforts to develop human resources for the tourism sector by providing young people with opportunities to acquire professional skills from the secondary education level, enhance their capacity for further study, and better prepare themselves for entry into the labour market. At the same time, it contributes to improving the quality of tourism services at the local level and promoting sustainable development of the tourism sector.
